The Government of Alberta announced on November 24, 2020, additional COVID-19 restrictions.
What are the new measures affecting fitness and recreation centres?
To prevent the possible transmission of COVID-19 between staff, volunteers, members, and visitors, Strathcona Place Society has put the following policies in place. ALL members and visitors of Strathcona Place are expected to follow these policies. Staff will be actively enforcing these rules and policies.
If a visitor does not follow required PPE guidelines, staff may, at their discretion, deny service or require the visitor to leave the building.
1. Masks/Face Coverings:
Based on Bylaw 19408, we will be enforcing mandatory masks or face covering for visitors of Strathcona Place Society. You must wear a mask/face covering while inside the building unless:
You are unable to place or remove a mask/face covering without assistance.
You are eating or drinking in a designated space.
Masks, masks with valves, and face shields are available at the front desk for a small fee.
2. Face shields:
In certain circumstances, face shields may serve as an alternative or a supplementary form of PPE. Face shields will be provided during programming at staff discretion. Please ask a staff member for more details.
3. Gloves:
Gloves can be a helpful way to prevent transmission. While they are not required, gloves are available upon request. Remember to:
Perform hand hygiene before and after using gloves.
Not reuse single-use gloves.
Visitors to Strathcona Place must submit to a required screening before entering the building. Before entering Strathcona Place, visitors must:
1. Undergo a temperature check.
2. Fill out a form with your name, address, and phone number, as well as your symptom and travel history. This is in accordance with AHS guidelines.
▪ This form confirms that the visitor has no symptoms unrelated to a pre-existing chronic condition, including but not limited to cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat.
▪ Personal information is collected for the purposes of contact tracing, in accordance with AHS guidelines. Strathcona Place strives to uphold the highest standards of privacy.
Hand hygiene is vital to preventing the spread. Health Canada approved sanitizer is available throughout the centre.
All visitors and staff are strongly encouraged to sanitize their hands or wash their hands for 20 seconds when entering Strathcona Place.
Please note gloves are NOT an acceptable substitute for hand hygiene.
Physical distancing remains one of the best tools in preventing the transmission of COVID-19. Staff have worked extensively to reconfigure Strathcona Place to accommodate physical distancing.
Please respect the efforts of staff to promote physical distancing.
Comply with staff instructions when inside the building. Be mindful of signage and markings around you.
