Wearing a mask is now optional at the Centre; masking in each class is up to the discretion of each individual member.
Wearing a face mask remains strongly encouraged by Strathcona Place Society management.
As per the new provincial health and safety restriction changes, Strathcona Place Society is no longer requiring proof of vaccination to access our Centre. Masking is still required to use our facilities and programs, as per our own Centre policy.
Proof of Vaccination Policy:
As of September 20 2021, the Strathcona Place Society is requiring all individuals to have provided proof of vaccination prior to arriving on-site. This includes members, instructors, and visitors.
Some individuals may not be vaccinated due to physical or psychological reasons. We are sympathetic to your situation, and we would love to have you back as soon as we lift our double vaccination policy.
Accepted Proofs of Vaccination:
a) The paperwork provided at the time of your second vaccination
b) A status record from your pharmacy or doctor
c) Display your Alberta Health Services - MyHealth Records on your phone or show us a screenshot or print out of the information (Visit the AHS MyHealth Records website https://myhealth.alberta.ca/myhealthrecords to get login instructions).
How can members and visitors submit Proof of Vaccination?
They can:
a) Send an image/scan to executiveadmin@strathconaplace.com with your name and phone number included in the email
OR
b) Visit the Strathcona Place Seniors Society in-person during our open hours (9am-4pm) with your proof of vaccination on hand, along with your phone number and email address
***Staff Members will not be collecting and storing any vaccination record data. Emailed proof of vaccination records will be deleted immediately following confirmation by a staff member.
As restrictions lift, we respectfully ask that visitors to the Centre continue to wear masks under the advisement of the City of Edmonton. We understand that this is a frustrating requirement but we kindly ask that you respect our wishes. Please understand that our decision to make masks mandatory inside the Centre is influenced by our desire to safeguard your health and to ensure that we can continue to offer you the programs you love.
It is with great joy that we welcome back our members as we enter into the next reopening stage! With safety being our top priority, we will begin phasing back in-person programming with select classes starting next week. The full course listings are available in our program guide.
In celebration of our reopening, and as a nod to Seniors Week, we are taking part in the ParticipAction initiative; this nationwide initiative is focused on keeping Canadians active and engaged in their community for the month of June! ParticipAction has kindly enabled us to provide two weeks of free programming to our members, in addition to our regular four-week session. Registrants for the upcoming session will be able to access free classes from June 14 to June 25, after which a regular four-week session will resume. Interested members may register online on our website or by calling us at (780) 433-5807.
Spots are going fast, so sign up for your programs today! We are excited to see our seniors back in action at our centre!
Your supportive team,
Strathcona Place Society
The Government of Alberta announced additional COVID-19 restrictions.
What are the measures affecting fitness and recreation centres?
Article 4.1.3 of the Strathcona Place Society bylaws call for a quorum of a minimum of thirty-one (31) of the voting members present at a duly called General Meeting. This shall be amended to twenty (20) of the voting members, or 10% of the membership, whichever is less.
The amendment will be proposed as a special resolution in the upcoming Annual General Meeting to be held on May 18, 2021, at 2 p.m. The meeting will be hosted at Strathcona Place with limited in-person and virtual attendance options available.
