At Strathcona Place Society, we are dedicated to serving the senior community of Edmonton. Our center is a haven for seniors, offering them a space where they can connect, engage, and thrive in their golden years. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging and ensuring that every senior feels valued and supported through our programs and outreach initiatives.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for seniors by providing a diverse range of programs, activities, and services tailored to their unique needs and interests.
From educational workshops, fitness classes, and social events to health and wellness seminars, we strive to cater to the holistic well-being of our members, ensuring they remain active, informed, and engaged by making available and providing the opportunities for social support and outreach.
Our approach is community-driven and collaborative. We work closely with local organizations, volunteers, and stakeholders to curate programs that resonate with our members.
By listening to their feedback and staying attuned to their evolving needs, we continuously adapt and innovate, ensuring that Strathcona Place Society Senior Center remains a vibrant and essential resource for our senior community.
Outreach activities are centered on supporting independent living, enhancing the quality of lives of seniors within the community, and linking low-income and other at-risk senior groups to social support services. The Strathcona Place Outreach Team (SPOT) also runs two weekly support groups: Wisemen and Wonder Women.
Strathcona Place Society is the place for active seniors who want to stay fit, learn new skills, and engage with their community. Yoga, Tai Chi, Gentle Strength Training, art, weaving, and table tennis are some of our most popular activities. The Centre also hosts several workshops, lectures, and other events to engage seniors meaningfully.
Behind every good organization, are good volunteers! Volunteers play an integral role in the work we do at Strathcona Place Society; there are always new and exciting opportunities being created for our volunteers, and we encourage everyone who has something to offer or love interacting with others to sign-up and be a part of something bigger than themselves.
